The Beauty of Ukhuwah in Tallinn Mosque

As soon as we took our first steps in Tallinn, Estonia, we sojourned the local mosque. Seeking for its location initially, we found that it lies near the airport about half a kilometer. Bingo. We're there before noon. So there's time before we continued hitting the downtown.

Out of the cariier, Tallinn was so bright. Wind blews hard at the same time. With a city map from airport information paoint, we rambled to the mosque. Walked against the wind carrying big rucksacks. Thanks God, it's a short journey. Passed an airport parking lot, we saw a tall building in Keevise 9, Tallinn. A box-like construction that more like an office than a mosque complex. There's a "Turath Islamic Cultural Center" Sign on a wall so we're sure we're at the right address.

The main door was not locked. We got in, set, LilBro carrier aside. There's one more door and a stair. I saw a shelf with books, some were in english and free for everyone who interested. I was impressed, a mosque with a minimum number of muslims could provide many free informations.

A man viewed from upstair, delivered  salaam, invited us upstair directly. The mosque itself is in first level. He showed us the ablution rooms. Seeing some toys in the mosque, LilBro run into the mosque. We performed tahiyatul masjid prayings. Looked around the praying room, we're so impressed. The red carpet was thick and soft. It could accommodate about 200 worshippers. Some toys for childrean in a corner, banks on the back side, a fireplace. So comfortable. My children were happy to find the place, too. And we're happy finding that our brothers and sisters have such a place to pray. Alhamdulillah.

Shortly, the man whose name was Muhammad asked us to come to the living room. Another man, Imran, prepared some snacks and drinks. The children devoured ceareal and milk. We chatted as enjoying the tea and some snacks. It's the first time we played guests in a mosque other than in Germany.

I asked about Islam and muslims in Estonian. Muhammad is a moroccan immigrant, Imran is a native Estonian. They said, the biggest number of muslims in this country are Tatar people. Alhamdulillah, muslim number are growing. The spirit to learn Islam are flourishing, too. If some five years ago just two men performed Jum'ah paraying, nowadays it reached more than 100. Masha Allah. And this building is theirs, and they have an Imam. A Tatar muslim who was a scholar in Mecca. A door we saw near the main entrance, is a halal shop. They provide halal meat and foods. Othe rthan praying room, they also have a learning and internet room. I have seen the rooms respectively.

It's a blessing, we met our brothers in a place where the muslims is minimum. A pity we did not forever to spend. Saying goodbye, Imran ask us to come again when we had more time in Tallinn. A wish that we could not fullfill. Maybe we'd come again. Inshaallah.
